The way to someone's heart is always through food and wine, right? At least it is in my family. So when Jon and I pondered how to say "thank you" to our family for the last year of support, we reverted exactly to that! I was brainstorming for a twist to the traditional thank you gifts when it hit me - how awesome would a private wine dinner be? And within days a plan started to form and I had a date and a chef! Next step - surprise the parents with a fine dining experience cooked in their home for a total of 8 guests!
Fast forward to January 8th and it's party time! My parents graciously asked all the girls and their significant others to join them for dinner. Score for us! The dinner was a total of 8 courses and paired with a wine for each course. Both the menu and wine selection was done by our amazing chef, Michael Zinke! Michael went to culinary school in LA and currently works for a local Oklahoma vineyard, Girouard Wines. If you haven't tried their wines you must! They are amazing and what beats a unique local flavor?
My amazing family! And the amazing setting!

Course 1: Amuse Bouche

Course 2: Roasted Butternut Squash Soup (w/apple) & Candied Guancialli (a.k.a. bacon)

Course 3: Butter Poached Lobster Mittens & Glazed root vegetables (this course was paired with the Tulsa Deco Atlas Life Chardonnay and it was amazing. The Chardonnay was very buttery and complimented the lobster perfectly!)

Course 4: Chicken Marsala Risotto

Intermezzo: Pineapple Sorbet

Course 6: Grill Seared Wagyu (Kobe beef), Shiitake Mushrooms, & Ponzu Sauce

Course 7: Cheese Course (somehow I missed taking a picture of this course - I'm sure it had absolutely nothing to do with the wine consumption up to this point!)
Dessert: Chocolate Corks, Double Shot Ice Cream, & Brown Butter Creme Anglaise (Yum!)

And finally our amazing chef and his sous chef (also his beautiful wife)!
