Fiesta del Yokum

Another successful party at the Wulf household! This time we were celebrating Allison and Michael's upcoming wedding...Fiesta style! It was the perfect theme for a couples shower. The keys to our success? A fajita buffet, a pinata filled with the necessary newleywed goodies, and a margarita machine filled with our favorite "blue" margarita recipe and an overdose of tequila! It was all enough to give the bride-to-be and all the other indulgent guests a proper hangover the next day!

On Sunday, our family friend, Dana, hosted a traditional bridal shower for Allison. She made an amazing brunch and kept it simple yet elegant. I think Allison made out pretty well that weekend on the gift side. But the most touching gift was a garter that my Granny made for her. She bought a neutral toned garter and attached 3 jewelry pieces to it: one item from my mother, one item from my grandmother, and one item from my great grandmother. To top it off, my grandmother wrote a letter to Allison on stationary that has great family meaning with a picture of Mt Vernon Presbyterian Church in Wichita, Kansas. The church that Allison and Michael were both baptized in and both of their parents were married in. Michael was raised in that church and his family still attends it. My grandfather was a pastor at it for many years and he married the two sets of parents and baptized the couple their. The letter brought tears, but the tears were of joy, and the moment was something I will never forget. Words can't describe how you feel your heart is tugged by the emotion of a strong family connection.
